What are Angels?

The word ‘angel” is derived from the ancient Greek word angelos, meaning “messenger.” They act as a bridge between Heaven and Earth, serving as a channel between God and the physical material world and are pure channels of Divine love. They are eternally connected to the  perpetual blissful loving energy radiating from the Divine, and work with each of us so that we can have a better understanding of that love. Angels are deathless beings of pure consciousness, unlimited by the constrictions of time and space. Each angel is a focus of God’s love, channeling it without distortion.

There are countless angels, each performing a specific function. They are neither male nor Female in gender. Many people believe that all the angels were created by God simultaneously on the second day of creation.

Angels belong to pure spirit and have to obey cosmic law. Once again, unlike humans, they are unconstrained by the limitations of time and space, which is why they are able to perform so many miraculous acts. They appear to us in numerous different forms but perhaps the most intense and moving experiences occur when they show themselves in all their winged, celestial glory.

Angels and spirit guides

Angels are all around us, but often we cannot see them. Perhaps it is because we do not expect to encounter them. However, once we are able to open our minds and hearts to receive them, we find that they are immediately with us. Indeed, angels are increasingly making their presence felt – not only to prophets, visionaries and healers, but to many of us – in numbers that are too vast to count. Many souls are awakening to the love and wisdom of the angels as they ignite the Divine spark that dwells in each person’s heart.

What does an angel look like? Although the traditional image is of a glorious creature with exquisite wings, beautiful robes, and a golden halo, angels appear in many different forms. Some materialize exactly when we need them and may even seem ordinary humans, except that when we look again they have vanished in a way that no human ever could.

Angels are generally believed to be divided into 9 different ranks or choirs and have a different sphere of influence within our lives. Perhaps the most popular of these angels and the ones that we have heard about during our childhood and religious studies are the Archangels. These are the angels whose names are usually most familiar to us and their are many ancient writings that name them. These angels operate on many different levels simultaneously, in their role as Divine messengers who bear God’s decrees. They are the tier of angels that work directly under God and they can be called for help and healing at anytime. Each one of these archangels (20 in total that we know of) have specific healing qualities from assisting us from health, love and finding our soul-mates, to protection, to guiding us on our life’s journey.

Spirit Guides is someone that has lived before and has went through similar-life lessons that you are expected to go through within this lifetime. They are more like older brother and sisters that wants only the best for you. The way that they usually work is to help you recognize clues, insights or signs that help lead you and keep you on the designed plan that we have created before birth. These clues may be in the form of a book, newspaper articles,  radio commercials and songs, or even a television show. These guides are extremely resourceful in the ways they try and deliver messages or confirmations to us.

If you have ever felt that someone was nudging you in a specific direction (most likely the right direction), or as someone dropping answers to some of your unspoken questions, this might well be your spirit guide giving you the answers that you need.

Many guides will even become highly protective of their assigned person. They don’t like to see us hurt or struggling and they are ready and willing to jump in to help. But, the rule is that they must wait until they are asked before they can step in.

Angel Healing

Guardian Angels

There is an infinite number of angels, each performing a specific task. We may never encounter most of them, yet each of us has a guardian angel that was assigned to us from the moment we incarnated. This angel acts as our protector and helper throughout our life, whether or not we know of our guardian angel’s existence. Yours is beside you right now, as you read these words.

These angel’s journey with us through all of our incarnations, evolving as we evolve through a shared destiny. This angels task is to channel as much angelic light toward us as possible to inspire us in the ways of righteousness and support us against the forces of negativity. They bring comfort in our hour of need and assist us throughout life.

Most people’s first conscious contact with the angelic realm is through their guardian angel. This initial experience of an angelic presence is often tangible in moments of acute spiritual or physical danger, in moments of grief, despair or illness, or one of joyful inspiration.

Our guardian angel, or any of the light beings from the angelic realm for that matter, can never override our free will or help us if we choose to ignore the offered assistance. Free will is a most sacred gift, which allows us to choose moment to moment whether we align our consciousness with good or evil. Some people feel their guardian angel is actually their higher self or, as in Buddhist teachings, the divine spark within each individual.

How do we become more attuned to these heavenly helpers?

The first step to recognize that they are around us is to be open to them and BELIEVE. Yes I know, it sounds like a line in the popular children’s tale of the plight of Peter Pan and Tinkerbell. but one has to wonder where the writers realized that idea..

Ask for a sign, an exaggerated one, that they are around you. And keep asking, because you will, without a doubt, receive one. And you will know when it happens, which is the biggest concern with most people. You’ll know, that’s all I can say.

Ask for help. They cannot “butt in” because of the beautiful gift of Divine Will that we all received from God unless you ask them. Be specific when you do ask for help because with my own experience, they will help you with exactly what you asked for and when you a re broad and not so specific, you may not exactly get the help you were hoping for.

Here’s an example:

If your intention is to bring in your perfect soul mate and that is how you ask, then it may or may not be a “romantic” soul mate, as we have many soul mates that come into our lives, in many different relationship forms. BUT do not add specific names of anyone or specific types of jobs, etc; because by being caught up on these types of pinpointed specifics, you thwart your best result and limit yourself to perhaps not your greatest answer.

I know for myself, when I ask for some type of acknowledgement from God and the Angels, specifically I say, “Please give me a sign, an exaggerated or one I will undoubtedly know that it is for me, so that I know that I am on the right path.” I usually find a feather. That is my specific sign that I have come to know. And as you continue to ask for signs and help, you too will start to see a theme within the signs that you will receive.

Another great thing to do in conjunction with the above are relaxation techniques. Getting back in touch with yourself and your body. Familiarizing yourself with the quiet energies that are around us.

Relaxation is extremely important. If you are like most people, your body carries tension and stress, so you need to learn to relax and “open” your mind’s eye – this is also an excellent step in being able to connect and recognize the angelic energetic presence that surrounds you.

Beginning in March, facilitator, Rosanne Pawluk, will join Balance for life in the presentation of her Angelic Series, helping us to learn, connect, and recognize and how we can work with the energies of the angels.
